These past few days have been very hectic. What with the farewell for the outgoing Class 2010. There was a charged atmosphere; and worse, the pupils weren't given complete freedom to express their good-byes. But this is altogether a better vibe, both for the students and the management. The 12 of Feb dawned, and Class XI including their mentor-teachers were there. Mr. Rashid Ali and Ms. P.Kaushik supervised the last minute preperations for the event. In the meantime, the group arrived and the part went underway. The atmosphere was a little subdued, as the import of the party was not felt yet. The head boy, Aviral Gupta had said more than he could chew on and his words lacked the impact they were supposed to produce.Maybe it was the choice of words or was it the enthusiasm of finally being able to stand up and say what one thought is correct ? The whole program was rather lacklustre. I somehow got the feeling that the outgoing class finally felt they were leaving ! The girls looked as pretty as the beautiful flowers in this season, the sun warm and the weather cool. All were at their ravashing best. For once, one felt pleased they were not in their school uniform, in which all and one looked the same. A riot of colours moved across the assembly grounds, tailed by the dark knights, (s)talking, exchanging pleasantries and trying to live up to what was expected of them. What that was, well, none was the wiser ! !
On the whole, it was a memorable parting, though only formally. For there is much be done afore they (the outgoing class of 2010) finally relegate memories of the school to the back burner, as more important thoughts would occupy their minds. At this point the following words by Tom Petty come to the mind:
One day in some far off place I will recognize your face,
I won't say goodbye my friend, For you and I will meet again.
And so the chain of events came to a conclusion. By mid-afternoon everyone had or was leaving the place and the whole school had once again a deserted look. On the other hand, the kids of the school do not, by far, give a deserted look to their exercise copies. This contribution is from the one and only Ms. Raghavi of Class XI, who has finally made it to the family of doddlers. Encouragement was the key, Ladies ! Gentlemen ! Kids ! So have more ideas and appreciate ! However, before I finally stop typing here's an Irish blessing for the class of 2010 :
"May you always have walls for the winds,
A roof for the rain, Tea beside the fire,
Laughter to cheer you,Those you love near you,
And all your heart might desire."
Till next time 'pip pip cheerio'
