With the 10th and the 12th classes on the fag end of their preperations for the board exams and with 90% of class XI absent from the school, the school seamed to wear a deserted look. Nonetheless, the school ground was always agog with some class or the other in the grounds. This Saturday was no exception. Like everyday, the students would find some place or the other to skip the assembly gathering. Well, some had the audicity to go upto the third floor and hide on the east side of the Hall. There they were basking in the early morning sun, when Naseem, the prowler, reached them and brought them down to stand in front of the Princy's office. There were about 9/10 of them. Even as this drama unfolded, the passage between Class VIII-A and the Chemistry Lab was the hiding place of another dozen or so. Well, it seemed that the majority of the pupils had got it into their heads to try and skip the assembly by hiding. Nonetheless, our Naseem is so hawk eyed that rarely does he miss seeing them that want to become invisible (at least during the assembly)He reminds me of Ali, the coachman.
The students,as usual, found out the hard way, that skipping the morning assembly or coming late to school is no joking matter. Coming late to school . . . . that reminds one of the many others who sneak into the school, keeping their fingers crossed and hoping that they wouldnt be caught. Some manage to escape but some get caught ! The Princy's cane does kiss those caught, hard on their bottoms, their legs and wherever it may find fit to land and leave a mark of its presense. From the Princy's office one could hear the swish of the cane and the subdued cry of the recepient. The swish and the thud ! Swish and thud ! Sounded very rythemic. The bravehearts could only whimper for it was a question of the izzat in front of the girls ! But they did more than whimper. I remember the time when the then Princy Bro. Julian made me jump, and jump he made me with his cane, just like a lion trainer cracking his whip ! (And free coaching on how to tap dance) What a world we live in, Watson ! The very walls of the building seemed to be witnessing history being repeated. The names and time have changed, but the antics are the same as any other generation of students who have passed through these portals. Soon the dust settled, calm was restored and the students were shunted off to their respective classes; the school continued. School continued as if nothing had happened. The bright sunshine; the warmth it provided enticed the remining class XI to go and sprawl on the football field which has been improvd upon. Ah ! What a day they seemd to be having. Just lolling and loitering about the hallowed place. So the day wore on.
All children are unyeilding to authority and have to be gently nudged for their own good. This spirit is depicted through this interesting doodle of an animal that stands for solidity, pushy, yet gentle. This has been contributed from one Prabhat of class IX-A. The sketching, the lines have been softly drawn, (a mark of a good sketcher) and his companion seems to be the 'hathi', a nice thought indeed. Well till next time take care and keep following !
