Acting has been passed down the years. It is wonderful to see the various characters portrayed by actors, that too very convincingly. Students are not to be left behind especially of our school. Though it does make one wonder if it is not the same amongst the student community. Though it is a part of the school curriculum, some take it seriously others don't. However, apart from its stage value, it has other beneficial ways if used effectively.
Some of us have resorted to the trick of acting to suit our own ends. And the acting done . . . . . . . . admirable. The ones of sleeping on the back benches (they are called the BBs) with head down, when caught, they come up with an unsmiling droopy, sad (sick) looking face (reminds me of Sad Sack, of the US Marines). Hm ! you are made to believe they are very sick, some mumbling about a headache/stomach ache. With a straight face, they are sent to get medicine from the office ! With this, they are out and gallivanting around, returning to the class with the same sad look. The teachers feels proud that he/she was able to help reduce the pain of the child, barely realizing what a ride they have been taken for! And the pupil, proud that he/she has managed to sleep through so-and-so's period. Well, life must go on. . . . .

Even the weather gods were acting. That too in the same wayward manner as the Gabrielites, making the day in school very unusual. Winds kept the dust flowing all over the grounds, into the classrooms and into the mouths and noses, not forgetting the ears and the hair. But, it was pleasant after the hot and dry weather we are going through, drying up everything and everyone. At times, the sun shone brightest and at other times clouds subdue the scorching heat giving relief to us poor souls trying to study, while the fans stirred the warm air, which sometimes turned cool. The lectures carried on, simultaneously, the whole school seemed to be at the taps, flirting with the chill water that we are lucky to get now. Every now and then, the wind turned cool adding to the feeling of laziness that seemed to spread around. The stairs, though were busy handling the troop of the newly arrived six grade to the senior section......running up and down the stairs.....shouting from the top to others at the ground..... scampering here and there, getting their bearings of the senior section, of which they would a part for the net six years.
On the other hand, the seniors were up to their usual tricks. . . their minds on other serious matter. . . . . .where to sit unobserved away from the dreary classrooms. They have found a niche for themselves. It is across the cricket field and in a slight dip near the storm drain near the practice nets. Well, one minute you see a few sitting along the bank an the other minute - - - - - no one ! Well, this is life for the pupils. The only way to ward of the lifelessness/listlessness in the air, I suppose.
But, Anushree of Class X expresses her talent through this sketch, showing how observant she is. Her sense of shadow and light is sketched beautifully. It is beautifully drawn, showing the pride and attitude that some of us tend to have . . . . . This is all about being a human . . . . . . . .
Ha Ha HA!! I remember now, how easy it was to bunk classes. Being in sports activities is the best! " we have a practice before the tournament", I'd say and be let out for the entire class. Great writing uncle.. Bitter-sweet school memories rushing back to me now
