The Happenings

Febraury 11,MMX - the day designated for the farewell to the outgoing Class XII/ Class of 2010. There was much anticipation while the Class 11th geared up for the final touches to their act. The musicians were readying their gig, finally all was set and the guests were awaited to be met. They arrived. They arrived, as is the   set tradition  - - - The frenzyed beat of sticks on the tight skins of the dholaks accompanied by the growl of the tractor announced the arrival of the guests, followed by a number of cars (in all shapes and sizes) and then it began - - - - the train of vehicles  entered the football ground. Viola ! The automobiles broke into a delirium; they started "eating circles" of the field. Looked like Hysterical Neurosis ( some disease !) had strengthned its grip on the automobiles or was it on the drivers - - - - dust rose like that from the sheriff's posse swiftly taking off in circles after a horse thief ! After the dust had settled down, the group, smartly dressed for the occassion, were given the traditional welcome: with the tilak ceremony and said all with flowers !
The show began with a sonorous rendering of the song 'Summer of '69'. With Geoffery Fernandes displaying a certain control over the lead guitar, Anant Gairola keeping the rythm accompanied by Gaurav on the skins joined by Avishrant with his vocals set the mood for the farewell ! Then came the cream on the cake. The Nagin remix played with efficient fervour by Geoffery F had the seniors in raptures, including the faculty.
The welcome speech was read out by Tyagi of class XI. The boy was so over enthusiastic that he pratically shouted into the mike spoiling the power of the written speech he had prepared.Rev. Brother Cyriac was invited to stage to voice his thoughts on the solomn occassion. He spoke well on the importance of the lessons that the outgoing class had learnt during their stay in the school. His soft, but controlled voice had the strength of the conviction of the beliefs he spoke about. 'Thought provoking ! Wonderful ! Well chosen words !
Then came the time for the act, all had long been waiting for. The dance by the girls of the class XI. They danced their feet off to the tune of a number, quite scintillating and foot-tapping. This was the longest performance. However, this time there was a break from the usual tradition. The teachers and the students were segretated for the tea party arranged for the event. This I found to be quite strange ! Why this change, is anybody's guess ! More on the farewell as and when more photographs are found/submitted/given/donated..... See you later with more . . . . . . . . . . .
