The Men In Whites (M.E.Ws.)

My journey along the teaching highway was begun with my initiation into a Christian missionary school. This journey would take me through a whirlpool of incidences that sucked me into the vortex of discipline, order, obedience; simultaneously, the formal studies were never neglected. The enthusiasm, the fervour was always there, plus the teaching faculty ! They too were disciplined, obedient and set an example for their pupils to follow. And off course, human nature at its worst and at its best, through the crests and troughs of the continual lifeline.
Life continued and I landed up in a unit of Delhi Public School in Bihar. It is a long story which could be made into many episodes and beat the very purpose of this blog. It was a wonderful experience that could only Have Happened In India. So, getting to the matter.
Saraswati pooja was approaching. The boarders were quite excited to perform a pooja, which they (and very wisely) had got sanctioned by the powers that be. The Pro. Vice Chairman (a sophisticated word for the owner) and his wife were invited. But that is not the angle of this write-up. Its the kids, the boarders ! !
MEN IN WHITES
On 7th eve, these kids got around to preparing the pandaal for the image of Goddess Saraswat for they had contributed, and throughout that night they worked to make it ready for the pooja the next morning. Their spirit indomitable. They were the MEN IN WHITES (M.E.Ws). They worked throughout the night, and were as fresh as the morning wind fanning the grounds of the school. Their dedication knew no bounds. [ wish they could do the same with their studies]. The pujariji was invited to chant the prayers and bless the gathering after which the prasadam was distributed by these MEWs. Thus the day of Feb.8th passed amidst chanting of prayers and the distribution of the prasadam. The pandaal was a glittering show of the dedication and fervour of these boarders. [Of course the house masters should also get credit].
GODDESS SARASWATI
The area where the school has its morning assembly is called, and that too very aesthetically, the PLAZA. The fountain, the statue; all add up to the concept of a plaza. Well, the visual makes it all clear. And after invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, they were the ones [exuberating with energy]

THE MEN IN WHITES -- THE PRASADAM
And so the day passed. With a prayer, a seva and then the mewa. The MEWs had done wonderful and by the end of the afternoon, one could see sleep overtaking them, So they vanished to take rest as best as they could.
In the evening, a talent show was organised. The boarders put up a show of dance and song with a couple of poetries thrown in for good measure. Here again, the Plaza was the venue. And the plaza is beautiful at night with reds, blues and greens shining all over the place.
And alongside a doodling was brought which had an appeal. This goes without saying that patience is a virtue that is not found easily and especially in  The world of Artoon. A lovely attempt to draw. Lets see what you can interpret from this doodle. Good Luck !
